3 Tips to Taking in the Little Moments

September 6, 2018

I can’t believe September is already here meaning the official season of fall will be here in a hot second. Although I may not be ready for the cold, I’m loving the transition into light layers. Cardigans and kimonos are among some of my favourite layering pieces. It doesn’t take much to make a great outfit when you’ve got stand out outwear.  Since floral is here to stay for the fall, I’m really enjoying incorporating it into my fall outfits. Even though you won’t find much green in my closet, I’m really digging the green shade of this kimono as it pairs so perfectly with an array of fall colours.

With the change of seasons upon us, I recently had to take a second to soak up that we are infact on the last leg of 2018. This year has completely flown by, especially the summer. Taking a step back allowed me to reflect on all the amazing things that have happened this year and truly appreciate them. The following are my 3 tips to taking time to take in the little moments in life.

  1. Take Time to Reflect- Although this may be an obvious answer, I know I’m at fault for not doing it all the time. Taking the time to take in little moments that are happening and just really enjoy or reflecting on special ones that have passed is so truly important. It really allows you to appreciate life.
  2. Me Time- Yes, time for just you! No one is too busy that they can’t take at least a solid 20 minutes to have time to themselves. If you don’t take care of number one, it could affect not only you but your loved ones around you. Listen to your body. If it is telling you to slow down, it’s not just doing that for fun, it truly means something.
  3. You Don’t Always Have to Say Yes- I am the worst for this. I get some serious FOMO when someone asks me to do something and I say no. Although it has been taking some time to learn to say no, when you do it feels amazing. Don’t wear yourself thin just to be at every social gathering and activity there is. Before you know it you’ll be burnt out.

Summer Outfit Essentials

July 23, 2018

Matching sets are all the rage this summer–from skirts and crop tops to shorts and off the shoulder blouses. I’d been dying to try one so I was pretty excited to get my hands on this pink white striped one. The pink and white is obviously an oh-so-sare quality and I love the tie detailing on the sleeves. When looking for a set, I think it’s really important to keep your body shape in mind. Because both this top and bottom are baggy, I was sure to tuck in the top so I could really accentuate my waist.

With the wedding this summer, I have been super into whites. I was super attracted to this dress because for the obvious fact that it is white, but also because of the embroidered detailing. This dress is perfect for my upcoming honeymoon in Greece. And with the beautiful detailing, this dress feels super high end.

I’ve loved wearing these pieces this summer. To me, they are summer essentials.

Floral Summer Maxi Dress

June 17, 2018

With the wedding so quickly approaching, I haven’t put a whole lot of thought into the honeymoon. But realizing it will be here in under 2 months has kicked me into gear a bit! We will be honeymooning in Greece the day after our wedding. Two weeks of adventure activities, nice dinners and of course some serious relaxation–I can’t wait! What I know for sure is everything I plan on packing has to be lightweight and comfortable. Temperatures which I’m sure will be in the 30’s or hotter is not the time to wear anything too fitted or layered. Bringing versatile pieces is also key. Something I can wear from the beach or dress up for dinner so I’m not overpacking. A piece I know that checks all of those boxes is definitely this floral summer maxi dress. I love the floral pattern but also how breezy it is. I wore this piece for brunch when I was in Kelowna for our bachelor(ette) weekend and paired it with sandals. But I also love how it can be worn with a cute hat and heels. Totally versatile and heat friendly.

Have you travelled to Greece? What types of clothes did you bring with you?
