With halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start making plans. But after the age of about 21, halloween festivities became a lot less appealing to me. I don’t have children and dressing up in a scandalous costume is not appealing to me. That’s when the super sweet blogger Jenna Kress of Naked Face Nutrition and I got together to brainstorm…how could we make Halloween fun again? With our love for DIY costumes, Jenna’s expertise in tasty recipes and my love for decorating/entertainment, we collaborated to create a cute little party setting for you and your friends to celebrate halloween.
When it comes to decorating for a party, the list and cost of decorations can really add up fast! I wanted to create something that could be done on a budget yet still look great. I used a piece of fabric I had for the table cloth. Adding some cobweb-like material on one end definetly gave the table more of Halloween appeal. And of course there needed to be some balloons! Balloons are a great way to decorate and really fill the space without being super costly. Choosing a catchy phrase such as ‘boo’ as the statement to the sweets table is totally eye-catching. Mason jars, black and white plates and bowls are always a classic, no matter the party theme. Using serving pieces that I already had cut back on a pricy budget. However, I did go out to find some cute halloween inspired cake trays. They are a lot of fun!
For my costume, it was an easy choice to pick something whimsical — a unicorn. This costume was super easy to create as I already had all of the clothing. What I purchased was purple hair chalk (so fun for temporary colour), star garland I used in both my hair and as a belt to create a mystical feel and a glitter gold foam sheet. I glued a piece of the foam sheet into a cone to create the unicorn horn. The overall costume took very little time to construct–perfect to have me halloween party ready without the fuss.

Well, it’s time to get crafting! Happy Halloween!
Kyle and I have been enjoying our BC vacation so much! The wedding we attended over the weekend in Fernie was absolutely beautiful. We have now spent the past couple of days in Kelowna. Kelowna is a place very dear to my heart as I have so many childhood memories here from back when my grandparents lived out here. I’ve also spent various vacations out here visiting one of my college girlfriends. This time visit Kelowna has been something special as it is Kyle’s first time out here. I’ve loved exploring the city and surrounding area with him. We’ve spent a lot of our time exploring the many wineries here. I adore wine and I mean who could go wrong with the gorgeous views included with those vineyards too?! I’m generally terrible with taking photos on vacation as I’m occupied absorbing every moment. After Kyle and I had sat on the patio at this particular vineyard, we couldn’t resist taking some photos amongst the rows of grapes with the beautiful view.
I’ve been all about wearing dresses on my days here in Kelowna. They are perfect for everything we possibly get up to here from wine tours, shopping at the boutiques downtown to an evening on a patio. This particular dress is a couple years old but I love that the colours as they are perfect for the upcoming transition of seasons. It would be super cute paired with booties and tights in the fall too. I have linked similar dresses in the link below.

I’m super excited to be teaming up today with Jenna of Naked Face Nutrition to bring you a post inspired by both Jenna’s love for food and my love for fashion! Although I am no expert in the food department, Jenna on the other hand is. You will find her blog and Instagram filled with SO many treats that are tasty and actually good for you too! We all know that what we put in our bodies is reflected in how we look and feel.
Our food and fashion post was inspired by limes! Adding a slice of lime to a glass of sparkling water on a hot day always has me feeling refreshed, as will Jenna’s tasty lime recipes you can find here. I wanted to incorporate that same refreshing feeling into today’s look. White in the warmer months is essential as it reflects those hot sun rays to keep you both looking and feeling cool! And of course I had to add a little punch of the colour lime to my accessories, as it gives a citrusy punch to the overall look.
Lastly, here’s a little tip from Jenna about the benefits of limes in your diet:
“Limes are a citrus fruit with a high source of antioxidant Vitamin C. I’m often using the juice and zest of limes to add natural flavours to foods without having to use extra salt and sugar.”
